Turn your notes into flashcards in your browser

Atrio is a free flashcard app that turns PDFs, photos of handwritten notes, and pasted text into flashcards with AI, then schedules reviews with the FSRS-5 spaced repetition algorithm. It runs in the browser, and the first import works without an account. Atrio is in beta and built independently.

04Questions

Questions, answered honestly

The 6 questions that come up before the first import — with limits taken from the code instead of from promises.

Which files can I import?

Atrio imports PDF files, photos of handwritten or printed pages (JPEG and PNG), CSV files, and text you paste directly. In the Starter plan each import covers up to 5 pages and up to 40 cards.

Do I need an account to use Atrio?

Not to try it: up to 3 imports work without signing up, once in total rather than per month. An account is what keeps your decks and your review history across sessions and devices, and the cards from guest mode move into your account when you sign up.

How long does an AI import take?

It depends on page count and server load, with progress shown page by page. Atrio converts the pages to images, sends them to an AI model and saves the cards one by one, so you always see which page is being processed. The Starter plan allows up to 5 pages per import.

Can it read handwriting?

Yes. Photograph your handwritten notes and Atrio processes the picture like any other photo. Check the generated cards once before you study: they come from an AI model and can contain mistakes.

What does Atrio cost?

The Starter plan is EUR 0 with no expiry. The paid plan, Der Endspurt, is EUR 5 a month and is currently on a waitlist. Studying, reviews and decks are included in both plans.

What happens to my data during an AI import?

Your material is sent to exactly one external AI service: OpenRouter. Processing runs primarily through the provider InferenceNet and falls back to DeepInfra automatically when that provider is unavailable. Processing outside the EU is therefore not excluded; the privacy policy names the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the EU standard contractual clauses as its basis. Your decks live in your own account, no advertising or tracking cookies are set, and no data is sold.
